AVK Butterfly Valves

What is a butterfly valve?

Butterfly valves can be used for a broad range of applications within water supply, wastewater treatment, fire protection and gas supply, in the chemical and oil industries, in fuel handling systems, power generation etc. Some of the advantages for this type of valve are the simple construction not taking up too much space, and the light weight and lower cost compared to other valve designs. The valves can be operated by handles, gears or actuators according to any specific need.

The Main design of butterfly valve can be centric or eccentric. On a centric (concentric) butterfly valve the stem is centered in the middle of the disc and the disc centered in the bore. The eccentric butterfly valve has one or more stems (stub shafts) located offset from the center according to the categories of double and triple offset valves.

AVK offers one of the widest ranges of butterfly valves to the market that includes centric butterfly valves with fixed liner, loose liner, rubber lined disc and double eccentric butterfly valves suitable  our customers’ needs. Which means we offer a wide variety of material configurations for each of these types as well as any type of actuation. Hence in other words AVK most probably can supply the right valve for your application.

Types of Butterfly Valves

Centric butterfly valves with fixed liner

Fixed liner butterfly valves can be used under vacuum conditions as there is no movement and wear of the liner. Furthermore, the fixed liner valve is suitable for high flow velocities and high operating cycles e.g. open/close every few seconds. Fixed liner butterfly valves are typically used above ground, but the double flanged types are also suitable for below ground installations. Available for water, wastewater, gas, fire protection and industry applications. (link product finder for more information)

Centric butterfly valves with loose liner

Loose liner butterfly valves are typically a cost-effective solution for applications above ground where replacement and maintenance is relatively easy. The liner is replaceable without a full replacement of the valve and the design gives more options for different liner materials. Available for water, wastewater and industry applications. Double eccentric butterfly valves

Double eccentric butterfly valves are most often used in water supply applications below ground as an alternative to gate valves. When installing butterfly valves below ground a lower bury depth is required and typically they are more cost-effective, especially in the large dimensions, compared to gate valves. They can of course also be used above ground. ((link product finder for more information)
